Toledo Stuns Cincinnati 29-23

After giving up 47 points to Eastern Michigan last week, the Toledo defense responded in a big way by holding #21 Cincinnati to just 23 points in a 29-23 victory for the Toledo Rockets.
Junior running back David Fluellen rushed for 161 yards, averaging 6.4 yards per rush against a solid Cincinnati rush defense. Junior receiver Bernard Reedy led the way through the air with 5 receptions for 72 yards, but it was on special teams that Reedy once again sparked the Rockets.

After Cincinnati took their first lead of the game at 20-19, Reedy responded with a 91 yard kick return for a touchdown to give the lead right back to the Rockets.
Reedy was not the only special teams star for Toledo. Sophomore kicker Jeremiah Detmer was 5 for 5 on field goals, making on kicks from 47, 43, 42, 25 and 20 yards. He was also a perfect 2 for 2 on extra points.
Defensively, Jermaine Robinson intercepted a pass in the 1st quarter and returned it for a touchdown to give the Rockets a 10-0 lead. Then with a 29-23 lead and less than 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter, Florida Gators transfer Jordan Haden intercepted Cincinnati quarterback Munchie Legaux to seal the Rocket victory.
Toledo improved to 7-1 on the season. The Rockets, which are 4-0 in MAC play, return to conference play next weekend when they play at Buffalo.
