Toledo Pulls in MACs 1 Ranked Recruiting Class

University of Toledo head coach Matt Campbell and his staff pulled in the #1 recruiting class in the Mid-American Conference for 2013. Toledo signed 23 student-athletes for a total of 1085 points.
Eight of the 23 players signed are rated three stars by the Rivals recruiting service. Those eight players are WR Rodney Adams, DB Delando Johnson, DT Marquise Moore, DB Austin Niswander, RB Kareem Hunt, DT Rob Zimmerman, WR Zachary Yousey and DE Daniel Davis.

The two highest rated recruits, DB Delando Johnson and WR Rodney Adams, were given 5.7 ratings, which is just one tenth of a point away from being a four star prospect.
The next best recruiting class in the MAC was Bowling Green, which was 15 spots behind Toledo in the national rankings.
While much of the credit for a recruiting class goes to the head coach and assistant coaches, a lot of credit for Toledo's 2013 recruiting class should go to Director of High School Relations, Bryan Gasser. While the assistant coaches go out on the road and do the actual recruiting, Mr Gasser stays back at campus and does all of the leg work. He manages the on campus visits for both official and unofficial visitors.
Recruiting for the 2013 class might be over, but recruiting for the 2014 class has already kicked into gear. A couple of weekends ago Toledo held a Junior Day event for prospects that are juniors in high school. High school prospects are allowed to make unofficial visits to college campus from February 8th through April 14th.
On April 15th an evaluation period begins and runs through May 31st. During this time Toledo assistant coaches can visit prospective student-athletes. Then from June 1st through July 31st the summer camp circuit begins. Toledo will hold several camps on campus and at satellite facilities to evaluate high school prospects.
