Toledo keeping tabs on Beaton

Gulfport (Fla.) Boca Ciega safety Letayveon Beaton has been picking up new offers in his recruitment in the month of May.

Akron, Bowling Green, and Middle Tennessee State has offered the 6-foot, 196-pound defensive back, who is playing linebacker for his high school team.

A lot of schools have come by Boca Ciega to see Beaton, including Iowa State, Miami, and USF.

The first offer that Beaton landed in his recruitment was from Toledo back in February. Beaton's head coach Max Smith was a graduate assistant on the Toledo football staff a couple of years ago.

In the meantime, Beaton hasn't been talking with the Toledo staff as great deal, but he's chatted with the Rockets' Director of High School Relations.

"I've talked to (Ricky Ciccone). He was just having a conversation with me about how I've been doing and if I wanted to come up for a visit," said Beaton.

"I like them. They beat an SEC team last year and Iowa State. I like them."

Beaton plans on being busy this summer as his 7v7 squad, Team Florida, is heading to different colleges across the country for recruit camps.

"I'm going to some camps, definitely," Beaton said. "I'm going to Michigan on a bus tour. We're going to Ohio State, Bucknell, and like ten colleges."
