Season in Review - BGSU Game

The 2012 football season is over for the Toledo Rockets, finishing with a 9-4 record. TheRocketNation looks back at the season and recaps key moments throughout. Up first is the conference opener against arch-rival Bowling Green.
The Rockets got the scoring started on a beautiful 66 yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Terrance Owens to freshman wide receiver Alonzo Russell, giving Toledo a 7-0 lead with 7:45 left in the 1st quarter.

The Rockets kept the heat on Bowling Green early in the 2nd quarter with a 27 yard field goal from sophomore kicker Jeremiah Detmer and then a one yard touchdown run from junior running back David Fluellen. The Rockets led 17-0 with 8:43 to play in the 2nd quarter.
Bowling Green finally got on the scoreboard when Tyler Tate connected on a 32 yard field goal as time expired in the first half, cutting Toledo's lead to 17-3.
An over capacity crowd of 28,115 had something to cheer about very early in the 3rd quarter when David Fluellen took the ball up the middle and then cut to the right sideline and scampered 22 yards for his second touchdown of the game, giving the Rockets a 24-3 lead.
Bowling Green would come right back on an Anthon Samuel 23 yard run, cutting the score to 24-9. The point after attempt failed.
The defenses took control for a while before Bowling Green running back John Pettigrew would score from two yards out. BG would go for two and no convert, making the score 24-15 in favor of Toledo.
Toledo kicker Jeremiah Detmer would close out the scoring with 5:42 left in the 4th quarter with a 42 yard field goal.
Toledo amassed 452 yards of total offense, 130 on the ground and 322 through the air. Terrance Owens completed 20 of 28 passes for 303 yards and one touchdown, without throwing an interception. Alonzo Russell shined with 6 catches for 152 yards and one touchdown.
The win improved the Rockets to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Mid-American Conference play.
