Rockets Win Toledo Invite

The University of Toledo won the inaugural Toledo Invite with a 76-41 victory over Prairie View A&M in the championship game. Hampton defeated Evansville in the consolation game.
Naama Shafir paced the Rockets with 25 points, 17 of them in the first half. Yolanda Richardson added 12 points and Andola Dortch contributed 11 points for the Rockets. Also scoring were Janelle Reed-Lewis (7), Kyle Baumgartner (7), Lecretia Smith (5), Riley McCormick (3), Inma Zanoguera (2), Brianna Jones (2) and Taylor Carver (2).

Prairie View A&M stayed close with Toledo through most of the first half, but the Rockets closed out the half with a 38-30 lead. Then the Rocket defense took control in the 2nd half for the easy victory.
The Rocket defense held Prairie View A&M to just 11 points in the 2nd half.
With the victory the Rockets improved to 10-1 on the season. After a tough 79-76 loss to a solid Dayton team on the road, Toledo has won nine (9) straight games.
The Rockets will take a short break for Christmas, but will be back on the hard court on December 29th when they travel to Atlanta, GA to play in the Georgia State Holiday Tournament. The Rockets will play Charlotte in the opening game. Georgia State, the host team of the tournament, will play Mississippi Valley State in the other opening round game.
