Rockets Tabbed 2nd in MAC West

Football practices are just a few days away. The MAC kicks things off tomorrow with the 2014 MAC Football Media Day at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. With anticipation to the event, several MAC media outlets have got together to vote on their preseason picks for division standings, a MAC Champion, MAC Coach of the Year and MAC Player of the Year.
TheRocketNation is proud to be a part of this group of eight media outlets. Below are the predicted order of finish for both the East and West Divisions. The number in parenthesis is the number of 1st place votes received.

EAST DIVSION
Bowling Green (6) 52 points
Akron (1) 41 points
Buffalo (1) 39 points
Ohio 38 points
Kent State 23 points
Miami 19 points
UMass 10 points
WEST DIVSION
NIU (4) 42 points
Toledo (2) 41 points
Ball State (2) 33 points

Last season Bowling Green and Northern Illinois met in the league's championship game and they are the preseason favorites once again. However, Toledo finished just one point behind Northern Illinois in the West Division standings in the preseason poll. The media outlets picked Northern Illinois to win the MAC Championship this season.
Coach of the Year honors are predicted to go out to Akron head coach Terry Bowden. Player of the Year honors are predicted to go to Bowling Green QB Matt Johnson.
Toledo opens fall camp on Sunday, August 3rd with players reporting that day and the first practice on August 4th. The Rockets open the season at home in the Glass Bowl against New Hampshire on August 30th at 7:00pm.
