Last season Bowling Green and Northern Illinois met in the league's championship game and they are the preseason favorites once again. However, Toledo finished just one point behind Northern Illinois in the West Division standings in the preseason poll. The media outlets picked Northern Illinois to win the MAC Championship this season.
Coach of the Year honors are predicted to go out to Akron head coach Terry Bowden. Player of the Year honors are predicted to go to Bowling Green QB Matt Johnson.
Toledo opens fall camp on Sunday, August 3rd with players reporting that day and the first practice on August 4th. The Rockets open the season at home in the Glass Bowl against New Hampshire on August 30th at 7:00pm.
