Rockets Pick Up Two Commits in Three Days

It has been a good weekend for University of Toledo football coach Matt Campbell and his staff. On Friday they earned a commitment from Charlotte, NC defensive tackle Ikeem Allen, who was previously committed to Ball State. Then at the end of an official visit, Campbell received commitment #2 of the weekend from three star outside linebacker and Tampa, FL native Anthony Davis.
Ikeem Allen committed to Ball State last summer. The 6-1, 296 pound DT plays high school football at Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, NC. He was a teammate of Cameron Mattison, a defensive back prospect that graduated high school in December and is already enrolled at Toledo and on campus.

Mattison's connection with Allen undoubtedly played a huge role in his flip from Ball State to Toledo. The identity of a new Defensive Coordinator at Toledo probably helped as well. Though the identity of the new DC at Toledo is not public yet, an announcement is expected either today or tomorrow. It would not be unusual for recruits and current players to already know who is in line to be named the new DC.
Rivals lists Allen with offers from Ball State, The Citadel, Georgia State, Northern Iowa, South Carolina State and Western Carolina. He was recruited to Toledo by assistant coaches Eli Rasheed and Stan Watson.
Anthony Davis came to Toledo on an official visit this weekend and committed at the end of the visit. The 5-10, 204 pounder is from Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Fl. Rivals lists him with some impressive offers, listing Houston, UMASS, Minnesota, South Florida, Texas Tech, Toledo, Tulane and West Virginia.
Davis was recruited to Toledo by Jason Candle and Stan Watson.
Allen and Davis are the 20th and 21st commitments in Toledo's 2014 recruiting class. Signing day is fast approaching, on Wednesday, February 5th.
