The University of Toledo men's basketball team has been picked to win the MAC West Division by a 24 member MAC News Media Panel.
Toledo received 20 first place votes and 143 points, easily beating out Eastern Michigan for the top spot. After Toledo and Eastern Michigan, the rest of the West Division poll standings are Western Michigan 3rd, Ball State 4th, Northern Illinois 5th, and Central Michigan picked for last place.
Ohio University received 19 first place votes and 141 total votes to take the top spot in the West Division. The rest of the division order is Akron 2nd, Kent State 3rd, Buffalo 4th, Bowling Green 5th, and Miami University picked for last place. Ohio University received 18 votes to win the MAC Tournament and Akron received the other 6 votes.
Toledo forward Rian Pearson and point guard Julius Brown were named to the MAC West Division Pre-season All-MAC Team.
Toledo opens the season in nine days at Loyola (IL), before visiting Big Ten foe Minnesota.
