Last year Toledo coaches headed to the south east and found 2014 signee and defensive back Cameron Mattison. Mattison enrolled early and participated in spring practice, where he cracked into the depth chart at strong safety. Toledo appears to be starting a pipeline with Mattison's high school in North Carolina, Mallard Creek. Evidence of that emerging pipeline comes with the news that Toledo has offered Mallard Creek 2015 defensive back prospect Nafees Lyon.

Lyon is a 5-10 and 179 cornerback at Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He currently holds nine offers. Along with the Toledo offer, he has offers from Charlotte, Elon, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Marshall, Merce, Miami (OH) and North Texas.
Back in March of this year, Lyon attended a VTO Sports Elite Top 100 camp in Charlotte and was named the best defensive back at the camp. Patrick O'Brien of Rivals.com said the following about Lyon's performance at the camp. "(Lyon) blew the coaches away with his field awareness and athletic ability."
Lyon ran a 4.54 forty yard dash at the US Army National Combine a few months ago. That speed was evident in his junior season at Mallard Creek. Along with playing cornerback, Lyon returns kicks and returned one for a touchdown were he completely out ran the entire opposing team when it looked like he was going to be tackled for no gain after fielding the punt.
Lyon is hoping to make his college decision before the start of his senior season. Stay tuned to TheRocketNation as Nafees Lyon's recruitment unfolds.
