After his playing days were over, Gasser served three years as an assistant coach at Ohio Northern, working with tight ends and running backs. In 2009 he coached the offensive line and special teams at Otsego High School in Ohio.
In 2010 he came to UT and served as a graduate assistant, working primarily with the tight ends. He left in 2011 and spent one year as the wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator at Notre Dame College, Division II school in Ohio. In 2012 he returned to Toledo as a graduate assistant, again working with the tight ends.
He was named Director of High School Relations after the season and has held that position through Signing Day. This spring when the Rockets take the field for spring practices, Gasser will be back on the field as the assistant coach in charge of tight ends. He will also be the recruiting coordinator for Toledo.
Gasser joins Anthony Johnson (running backs coach) and Jon Heacock (Defensive Coordinator and safeties coach) as new position coaches at Toledo. Derek Sage, who coached wide receivers at Wyoming last season, is expected to join the staff at Toledo as well.
