Class of 2015 Shows Future Promise for Toledo

We're over seven months away from National Signing Day in February, yet Toledo's Class of 2015 is coming along nicely. Toledo has been trying to fill the gap at offensive line throughout the offseason and it has paid off. Of Toledo's ten commits in the class thus far, five are offensive linemen. The five currently committed along the offensive line will add much needed bulk and size at the line of scrimmage. An average of 6'5, 296 pounds between the five will show that the Rockets went after size in this year's class. The Rocket offensive line commits are headlined by three-star, Cam Bell of Macedonia, Ohio. Bell is listed at 6'8, 370 pounds with surprisingly good footwork for a recruit of his size. Another commit is Brandon Heidecker, who most likely is a left or right tackle on the offensive line at the next level. Heidecker has a big frame but can move well along with superb agility and quickness. Chandler Cotterman, a 6'5, 295 pound commit out of Anna, Ohio is another recruit that will add size. Cotterman most likely translates to be a guard at the next level. Aside from Toledo, Cotterman was hearing from several programs such as Arkansas, Buffalo, and Marshall.
Arguably the most under the radar commit in the class for the Rockets is Jordan Fair, a future offensive tackle out of Mason, Ohio. Fair is a tremendous looking prospect who held a "fair" share of offers from other programs such as Akron, Georgia State, Miami (OH) and Western Michigan. Fair, a 6'5, 276 pound recruit should be an asset down the road for the Rockets. Last but not least, Ramon Miles who was the first of the offensive lineman to commit to the Rockets. Miles is a 6'5, 260 pound guard from Toledo Central Catholic high school who is skin and bones compared to the other four offensive line commits. Miles won't need to travel far to play his college ball in the Glass City and has a bright future ahead in a Rocket uniform. The offensive line position is pretty well covered for the next few classes for Matt Campbell and his coaching staff because these offensive linemen have great size, agility, and quickness. The future is extremely bright along the line of scrimmage.

At quarterback, well how couldn't you be excited? Matt Campbell and his staff got their man. Mitch Guadagni - AKA "Mitchy Football" will provide more excitement than words can describe. Guadagni has an arm filled with rage when he lets the ball go. The arm strength is there, the leadership is there, the speed is there. There's absolutely nothing Guadagni can't do. After a junior season in which he threw for over 2,000 yards and ran for over 900 more, he is looking to bolster the quarterback position once he gets on campus. At Toledo camp on June 6th, Guadagni led the quarterback position and was one of the best looking quarterbacks out there. A one-of-a-kind relationship with Rockets offensive coordinator, Jason Candle has Guadagni extremely excited for the future as well. Who's ready to watch this kid play? I know I am.
On the defensive side of the ball, Toledo was hurt by the de-commitment of Detroit Loyola linebacker, Paul Engram. Not to worry, however, because the defensive side of the ball is still coming along nicely for Toledo in the Class of 2015. Toledo made up for the loss of Engram by hanging onto Tyler Taafe, a bulky linebacker out of Hubbard, Ohio. The 6'0, 180 pound linebacker had received a lot of interest from schools like Pittsburgh and Ohio, but decided on Toledo over the spring.
At defensive tackle, Coach Eli Rasheed has to be excited to have Chad Coeling of Centreville, Ohio. The 6'2, 290 pound defensive tackle has a high-powered motor and has a massive frame to clog up gaps for seasons to come. Coeling committed to the Rockets over an offer from Ball State.
In the defensive backfield, Toledo has some weapons. Kevin Banks, a local product from Scott high school will provide a spark at the safety position for the Rockets. The 6'2, 185 pound defensive back was a relatively unknown recruit before his commitment, but his senior season should turn some heads this fall. Next is Josh Teachey of McDonough, Maryland. The Rockets coaching staff are extremely high on this kid. Teachey has been on the target list for several months and he finally committed on June 7th following Toledo camp the night before. A pretty big time recruit, Teachey had received a lot of interest from Michigan State and Maryland but only held offers from Toledo and Morgan State. The 5'11, 170 pound commit has the speed and quickness to hang with nearly any receiver in the Mid-American Conference. It'll be fun to have him at Coach McDonald's disposal in the defensive backfield once he signs this February.
So what's next for the Rockets? Well, we're still waiting on that slot receiver to play the Bernard Reedy role. Obviously this fall we'll see what Coach Campbell wants to do at this position, but it's a spot that needs to be filled in the Class of 2015. Abu Daramy is a lightning-quick recruit out of Westerville, Ohio. The kid can do anything - he can play corner, play in the slot, backfield, return kicks, it doesn't matter. Daramy has offers from Toledo, Air Force, Navy, Western Michigan, Army and Ball State. It'll be interesting to watch Daramy's recruitment come along, because he's the ideal fit in Coach Campbell's offense. Any player with 4.5 speed is worth a look in the spread offense, especially a player of Daramy's capability. Another recruit to watch out for is Michael Nero of DuPont Manual high school in Louisville, Kentucky. Nero is a 5'10, 200 pound runningback who has gotten a long list of looks and interest from schools like Michigan, Cincinnati, Louisville, and Ohio State. Though none have offered, Nero is not jumping at the lone Toledo offer he has in hand. Toledo is extremely high on Nero and will be looking for someone to help their backfield of Kareem Hunt and Damion Jones-Moore following this season. Nero could fit that mold, be on the lookout for him.
