Beaton chooses Toledo

Toledo offered Gulfport (Fla.) Boca Ciega safety Letayveon Beaton was offered by Toledo in February, but he and the UT staff didn't keep in close contact after that.

Things changed between the two parties after Beaton impress the Rockets' staff at the Ohio State camp last Friday.

"After that camp, [Toledo] started talking to me hard," Beaton said.

Toledo pursuing the 6-foot, 196-pound 2017 recruit led him to commit to the Rockets on Tuesday afternoon.

"I Talked To coach Candle And coach Watson, and they said that they were really excited about me committing," said Beaton.

Beaton hasn't visited Toledo yet, but he hopes to head up north to see campus this summer. He knows enough about the Rockets to know that it's the place for him.

"I feel like Toledo has something special coming, and I want to be a part of that. They're also a winning program," he said.

Beaton added that he won't be considering any other schools now that he is committed to Toledo. He chose the Rockets over offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, and Middle Tennessee State.

The Rockets has twelve football commitments in their 2017 class. The full commit list can be seen here.
